Lead & Copper Service Line Inventory

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) along with the State of Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) have requested  an inventory of all water service lines connected to the public drinking water system as part of Lead & Copper Rule Revisions  https://cdphe.colorado.gov/lcr. The Town of Carbondale Utilities Department will be conducting an in-person survey of every water connection built before January 1988 to classify the pipe material for each property.

The Town of Carbondale Utilities Department does not believe lead pipes have ever been installed in Carbondale; however, the survey by Town of Carbondale staff will confirm in accordance with regulations.

Water Service Line Identification guide

Starting in March 2024, the Town of Carbondale Utilities Department will have staff connecting with residents by door knocking, phone calls, letters, and other outreach to inspect all service lines installed before 1988.

The completed inventory is due to the EPA and CDPHE by October 16, 2024
